MKTG Sports + Entertainment will support the commercial growth of WSL through the introduction and procurement of new and strategic brand partnerships.
KTG’s Sports and Entertainment division has announced that it will begin overseeing the brand partnerships of World Surf League (WSL) Australia.
The organisation is the latest to be added to MKTG’s Australian sports portfolio, which already includes the AFL, Cricket Australia, Football Australia and Victoria Racing Club.
The WSL currently partners with such sponsors as Jeep and Quicksilver.
Since its inception in 1976, the organisation has collaborated extensively with the likes of Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Rip Curl, Hydro Flask and more.
According to a statement, the new agreement will see MKTG work to “support the commercial growth of WSL through the introduction and procurement of new and strategic brand partnerships.”
MKTG Asia Pacific managing director, Matt Connell, said: “Today’s announcement with the WSL is an exciting new commercial relationship complementing our existing, long-term and successful track record in sport.”
“WSL athletes and events represent some of the most marketable properties in sponsorship globally.
“Surfing is a powerful platform for marketers to develop authentic connections with consumers across surfing communities, and it scales to deliver mass impact and outcomes for brands aspiring to grow their business and reach this prized audience,” he said.
World Surf League Asia Pacific commercial director, Scott Hargreaves, added: “MKTG have clearly demonstrated their level of expertise and understanding of what is required to establish meaningful, authentic and strategic partnerships in sport.”
“We are excited to align with MKTG and have all the confidence the partnership will deliver incremental value for our sport and to brands wanting to build their businesses on the back of professional surfing and our audience,” Hargreaves said.
